Couple of days ago, we all were waiting for most awaited storm, Phet. Almost everyone was waiting with curiosity for upcoming disaster and media channels were projecting that like something extremely terrific is about to happen; It was obvious that people living in other parts of Pakistan must have assumed that Karachi would sweep out within a night.
A night before expected exposure of storm, Karachi rained continuously through out without any break and it is useless to mention that before first drop of rain all the feeders of KESC dropped down and after few minutes all the units of Port Qasim generators failed down; within an hour of rain all the city drowned into gallons of water and underpasses became pools. Well it’s not a major part of the story because it happens almost every time when Karachi rains.
The actual part began next day when every one took places over their roof tops to capture best shot of storm which had caused heavy distraction in Gawadar, Badeen and costal areas of Oman. But soon before dusk we saw a large semi circle colourful magical band of colours splendid over the edges of sky, the rainbow. The rainbow is one of the prettiest sights in God’s creation and its mystical appearance captured attention of city audience and it faded away within few minutes after huge photo-shot. The rainbow has a place in legend owing to its beauty and the historical difficulty in explaining the phenomenon. Although it’s a scientific phenomena but According to religious texts, Bible* says God made his promise to Noah, his sons, and all the birds and animals that came out of the ark ; God promised that the earth and everything living on it would never again be destroyed by a flood; The rainbow is the sign of that solemn promise. “But”, is not the rainbow a natural phenomenon which is produced by the refraction of the rays of light from the drops of water — It is part of the process of nature. Yes, that is true, but our God is the God of nature and He produces the bow.
And God has created every animal from water: of them there are some that creep on their bellies; some that walk on two legs; and some that walk on four. God creates what He wills for verily God has power over all things. (Quran** 24:45)
And you know what happened next, after about half an hour, a red slid of breaking news appeared over TV, “Storm has passed peacefully over Karachi”. The God revised its promise the rainbow is God’s guarantee that He will never again destroy the whole earth with a flood. It is a visible token given by God Himself that He had fulfilled His promise. The rainbow is God’s signature upon His covenant between Himself and the earth.
